Brigit Folland from TEAMBATH MCTA won the Girl’s Singles Aegon Girls U16 National Tour at The University of Bath last weekend (29th-31st October). Folland, 15 from Avon, has been based at the Tennis academy for the last 2 years.

She made a strong start in her first 2 matches, only dropping 5 games to make it into the quarter finals, fully capitalising on home court advantage.

Folland has been working really hard to develop a more aggressive game style and this was definitely apparent during the tournament. Coach Eve Langley said: ‘the most encouraging thing was that her performance got better as she went through the tournament and she really played at her best in the final’.

Her opponent in the final was Emily Gibbens from Surrey, who also had not lost a set during the tournament. Folland played the match in a very aggressive manner and got rewarded for it. After losing the first set, she stuck to her game plan, kept her head down and came through 3-6 6-2 6-3 to win the title.

Earlier in the week Folland also finished as losing Semi-Finalist in the National U18 event in Gosling. The LTA have awarded her a wild card into her first Women’s $10k event in Loughborough this week.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
