Hi, I am sure most of you have heard the expression that practice makes perfect and in most cases this generally is the trend except when it involves my golf. Five rounds later, umpteen balls lost and still my score seems to be going in the wrong direction. I am writing this blog from my home in Australia where I am enjoying a couple of weeks rest before hitting the States for the latter part of the year. Since being here I have become a golf addict as you may have gathered and frustrating as it is, I seem to get lured back to the course each day. My parents’ house here in Melbourne is situated bang in the middle of three courses so the temptation never eludes you to sneak a quick round in here or there. It is always great to get back home and be able to spend some quality time with family and friends whom I don’t see for a massive chunk of the year. With this trip being just a short one, my weekends seem to be crammed full of fitting in coffees, dinners and catch-ups with various friends, but it is nice to recharge the batteries for what will prove to be a very important couple of months through to the end of the year. The past few weeks saw me in Sheffield each day with Anna and Ana (who flew over from Serbia) for an intense training week which proved to be a beneficial change up in their schedule. Last week, Dave and I took them down to London to do a day’s training with the newly appointed LTA doubles guru Louis Cayer. Again this proved to be very advantageous and opened the girls’ minds up to become more aware of their positioning and movement patterns on the doubles court. Louis has some great ideas and both Dave and I were very appreciative of the time and content he gave to the girls and I am extremely confident that it will pay dividends in the coming months. Doubles is a completely different sport at times and with their recent successes on the Challenger circuit I feel that the timing of this visit to London was spot on and has really motivated them to believe that they can be a top 100 doubles pair in the coming years if not sooner. I have another week and a half here in Melbourne before flying out to San Francisco so I will try my hardest to improve my golfing game and maybe I will keep you updated on my highest score!!!!! If I crack a 100!! haha Hampo |
