 Jersey was a great week, which ended disappointing; I have just lost the final to Piter, a Polish girl. Its very disappointing because I have been playing very good this week and improved in every match, but today I had to deal with a good player which made life very hard for me.I'll better start from the beginning. I came to Jersey on Sunday after having spend a few days at home. Dave, Rox and Christina were already here because Christina had to play qualies. I had two days to practice and then I played my first match against a British girl called Ren. I didn't return well at the start so had some difficulty to break her but then changed positions and won 6:4 6:1. In the 2nd and 3rd match I was very tough mentally and served great so won the matches easy. In semis I played a Romanian girl which played very aggressive, so had to go over three sets, still I was happy the way I played because again I had been tough mentally. Today I started well, played some really good forehands and broke her to go 2:1 up but from then on I struggled to hold my serve. And that's very disappointing because the whole week my serve had been a big weapon and always very reliable also on big points. But I cant change that now, at the moment I am waiting for my plane to go to London and depending if I get to the main draw in Poland I will be playing there otherwise I will be practicing and then go to Spain. This week has been great also because Christina and me tried for the first time the Sticky toffee pudding, which Dave told us was the best desert and I have to agree, its the best I have ever had, even that we just had a little (sharing one between three) because our fitness coach Roxanne didn't allow us to have one each. I'll be looking forward to come back to this tournament to try it again! I have three more tournaments left for this year with the big ending in Dubai, a 75k, which I am really looking forward.  I am almost one year now traveling with the MCTA TEAM and it has been a tough year especially at the beginning when I had to change a lot but the last 7 months I improved a lot and I want to thank this great team of coaches for their patience and for working with me! Also I promised Fitzy to dedicate the title to her, well I didn't win but I still think she deserves a place in this blog because she has been very supportive even though she is going through a tough time. I hope she will be back soon because it has been pretty boring without her and also tough because I had to play every week with a different doubles partner. |
